OVERVIEW: 7 DAY ON HOW TO MAKE AN ECOMMERCE BUSINESS: CLOTHING BRANDS, SUPPLEMENTS, ACCESSORIES, ETC; LOGO, FB PAGE, WEBSITE, PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT, PHOTOSHOOTS, SHIPPING COSTS

Monday; Logo: An effective logo is (in no particular order): Simple Memorable Timeless Versatile Appropriate. A simple logo design allows for easy recognition and allows the logo to be versatile & memorable. Good logos feature something unique without being overdrawn. Following closely behind the principle of simplicity, is that of memorability.

An effective logo design should be memorable and this is achieved by having a simple, yet, appropriate logo. An effective logo should be timeless – that is, it will endure the ages. Will the logo still be effective in 10, 20, 50 years?

An effective logo should be able to work across a variety of mediums and applications. The logo should be functional. For this reason a logo should be designed in vector format, to ensure that it can be scaled to any size. The logo should be able to work both in horizontal and vertical formats.

How you position the logo should be appropriate for its intended purpose. For example, if you are designing a logo for children’s toys store, it would be appropriate to use a childish font & color scheme. This would not be so appropriate for a law firm.

It is also important to state that that a logo doesn’t need to show what a business sells or offers as a service. ie. Car logos don’t need to show cars, computer logos don’t need to show computers. The Harley Davidson logo isn’t a motorcycle, nor is the Nokia logo a mobile phone. A logo is purely for identification.

Ask yourself; is a logo still effective if:

Printed in one color?

Printed on the something the size of a postage stamp?

Printed on something as large as a billboard?

Printed in reverse (ie. light logo on dark background)

One way around creating a versatile logo is to begin designing in black and white only. This allows one to focus on the concept and shape, rather than the subjective nature of color. One must also remember printing costs – the more colors used, the more expensive it will be for the business over the long term.

 PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

. You need to do research on how your product is made, how much time, what is quality work, how long will this product last. I have clothing brand right now that has been put on pause with screen printing I knew I had to have clothing but I had to get the pieces at a low cost. After acquiring the pieces I wanted for my brand I had to learn about the printing process. For example; the set up, multiple colors cost more, the graphics had to be in Vector format for the machine to read it.

Your process is similar but no product is the same learn from experience, that’s the best way to learn. Tomorrow why you need to use photoshoots to your advantage

Who loves photo shoots sometimes i feel like it’s the best part lol

Wednesday; photoshoots; you will need photoshoots for your product pictures on your website with a white background, so your viewer can clearly see your product.

You will also need your photos for social media to create brand awareness along with making your brand more attractive to the viewers eye.

Its all about showing the quality of your brands product what you put out is what you will get back in.

 SHIPPING AND HANDLING;

This part for your business will go be a tax write off but most importantly you customer wants your product, and this is a way of you factoring in the costs for your product.

You can have cheap shipping with higher priced products or vice versa. Bottom line you need shipping and handling needs to be known so you aren’t losing money getting your customers product to them.

 SETTING UP YOUR FACEBOOK PAGE;

Here is a quick check list when setting up your facebook business page:

profile pic of your logo (not your products) along with your tag line as the banner pic or something along those line could be a special discount etc.

posts should be documenting your movement on a day to day basis.

In your “about” make sure you have your brands story (who you are and what your about) contact info, and most of all your website. (when it is all set up of course)

Get more likes by inviting your friends to like it and over time gather reviews so people can see you have a relationship with your customers and above all having reviews show credibility.

Lastly link any social media links you have tomorrow I will talk about how to run your ecommerce website on Instagram.

INSTAGRAM.

Running your ecommerce website on Instagram; its all about how you are developing a “artsy lifestyle” from  your pictures to your captions leading into creative call to actions without being “salesey” because in this day an age nobody likes being “sold to.”

With the photos do your best to capture a lifestyle with your brand and your brands products. Hashtags should be at the bottom or in the comments (I obviously like the comments) with hashtags I like to do my best to keep them relevant to the photo more so than the caption because that’s what your viewer will say first but some hashtags can be relevant to the caption though just more so the image.

If you wanted an e-commerce store comment below what store would you want to have

Sunday; Website set up basics for ecommerce; You need your logo to be your first thing that your customer sees along with your tag line.

Colors that are not too bright to be distracting to the eye so your customer can stay focused on what he or she is wanting to do.

You will need a navigation with at least 8 tabs including your home page, product page, about page, contact, social media, most asked questions, your return policy, and lastly your reviews tab.

Your product page must show your entire product and when the product is clicked on it needs to have options to see all angles of your product with a price of your product, and the descriptions.

Have your Facebook Pixel installed to track certain actions on your website. Easy to navigate check out page with your shipping and handling with details clearly explained.
